How He Grows...

Since I was pregnant, I have heard, “Enjoy the time with your baby, they grow up so fast”. I have been absorbing Damani since he was born, but I am still amazed at how fast he has grown. It was quite a moment when he finally started growing out of the smallest clothes he had. Now he is 12 lbs and getting fatter and longer every day. We are retiring his pajamas and onesies after trying to put them on and his body stretches them out to the extreme. Damani has discovered his pipes, and has become a very vocal baby. He yells, laughs, talks, and listens closely to you when having a conversation with him. He is still waking up a few times a night, and we are trying to find ways to get him to sleep through more of the night (suggestions welcome!).

10 Weeks Strong!

Damani is now a baby- he no longer looks or acts like a newborn. He is developing so much, and we are amazed at everything he learns how to do, as every parent is. He is a happy, mellow baby. We have been taking him out more often. The picture with Jamaal is at Alameda beach, where we took a long stroll on a sunny Saturday. He cracks us up with his shrieks, coos and laughs. We can have conversations with him and he will respond with a hum or other crazy sound.
Damani is 10+ lbs now! We are so happy that he is gaining weight normally. He has rolls in all the right places, and his cheeks are nice and plump.
We have been attending Mom & Baby yoga every Friday. It is a great class where moms get to interact with their babies and also get a nice yoga practice in. I am still having a lot of back pain, so the yoga is helping me out a lot. Damani loves to have his arms and legs stretched and seeing the other babies. Sometimes, of course, he sleeps through almost the whole class, but that's OK with me!

2 Months

Damani is busy growing, eating, and staying awake longer during the day. He has been trying to sleep through the night, but can't because he still needs to eat at least every 4 hours. We will rejoice the day that he can start sleeping more hours at night, we're soooooooooo tired! He has his 2 month appointment on Monday, we hope to hear nothing but good news about his development.

The above picture is Damani napping at my dad's house. He likes to keep his arms active while he sleeps, I call it the "Superhero Syndrome". Click the pic to enlarge, and enjoy!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 2009 is looking good. Damani has fully recovered from the RSV and we are happy to be home. The picture was taken last night when we introduced him to his Gymini (Thanks *grandma* Thoraya!), a playground that encourages his development. He was so stimulated from all of the colors, textures and objects he saw that he laughed, kicked, pumped his fists and yelled for about 45 minutes (an eternity for an infant). I picked him up before he got overstimulated, and held him in my arms to "bring him back down". He loved it again today. It's so much fun watching him change on a daily basis!
